Roll mouse over for larger image |
We have been selling loupe magnifiers since 1997, and have observed this BelOMO 10x triplet hand lens steadily gaining popularity with our college geology students. The BelOMO has a large lens diameter of about 19 mm; equal to that of our largest Value Line 10x loupes, but the BelOMO weighs about 33% less making it noticeably easier to manage on a neck lanyard. Side by side comparison with our other brands of loupes shows BelOMO has excellent optics. A bonus feature is that this BelOMO 10x magnifier has an anti-glare coating on the lens. When you are working outdoors in bright sunlight conditions, the anti-glare coating lets this lens produce a decidedly crisper image. Our only criticism, and it is only a small one, is that BelOMO magnifiers use threaded screws for the pivots and body assembly, rather then the secure riveted pivot and one piece body used by both Bausch & Lomb and our Value Line loupe magnifiers. So check the tightness of your BelOMO's screws occasionally to prevent one coming out in the field. To reduce the problem, some people back the screws out a little, apply a bit of wicking thread locker or other sealer, and then snug the screws back down. Use a good screwdriver to avoid cosmetic problems with the screw head slots.
Chose free polyester Kooter's lanyard, or Belomo logo woven lanyard for $3.50 extra. |
